In the first years of the Republic, Kanapiçe Cove, which is connected to Kuşadası district of İzmir, is a small settlement located geographically opposite to the island of Sisam and close to Karaburun. The strategic importance of Kuşadası in terms of three major roads leading to Anatolia, Gediz, Büyük Menderes and Küçük Menderes, makes Kanapiçe Cove important too. Located at a position of great importance in geopolitical point of view, Kanapiçe Cove has experienced an event that will confront England with Turkey on July 14, 1934. The arrival of a sailboat belonging to one of the British naval vessels towards the Turkish coast and the fire over the sailboat by the Turkish security forces was the beginning of the events. The details of this event, which started as a small-scale case and got very high importance for firstly Aegean side and then the whole Turkey, are tried to be illuminated in the light of research works, newspapers of the era and the archive files in this paper.
