Abstract


THE EFFECTS OF CHOLERA OUTBREAKS IN THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE IN THE 19TH CENTURY ON SCHOOLS

Epidemic diseases, one of the natural disasters, have always caused serious damage in the Ottoman geography, which is located on the route of trade routes. Especially in the 19th century, the cholera epidemic, which was effective in the last period of the Ottoman Empire, caused the death of many people in areas where people were concentrated. It is one of the areas where cholera is effective in schools, which are at the forefront of crowded environments. The state has applied many measures to eradicate the disease in these institutions or to prevent the disease from spreading. This study aims to examine the impact of cholera epidemics emerging from India and affecting the world on the Ottoman Schools and education system in the 19th century.
