Abstract

YAKUT-MORAL INTELLIGENCE SCALE

Moral intelligence, which is a reference to human's focus on a more virtuous life and to make conscious choices that prioritize universal human values, is a concept that emphasizes the inner dynamics of the human, rather than the external factors, as a motivator in attitudes that prioritize the moral in every condition and environment. This concept, which contains two value schemes such as intelligence and morality, which we can associate with all aspects of human emotion, thought, behavior, social and religious; It is predicted that it can be used as an instrument in combating the chaotic elements of today's world such as addiction, crime, violence, suicide, injustice and inequality. It can be seen as a candidate to be a rising value in terms of moral intelligence, psychology and education, with its aspect that refers to internal discipline in virtuous preferences and sheds light on the effects of morality on human psychology. In this context, our study emphasizing the importance of moral intelligence, aimed to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool for determining the moral intelligence levels of individuals. In the study whose compliance with ethical principles was confirmed by the decision of Yozgat Bozok University Ethics Commission dated 20.01.2021 and numbered E-3211, an online questionnaire was applied to 507 university students. While the scale was being developed, the literature was searched, expert opinions were taken, and factor analysis was made by creating an item pool accordingly. The KMO value of the scale was calculated as 776 and the Bartlett test value as 1263,083, and the chi-square value was found to be significant. As a result of the analysis, four factors named "empathy" (? =, 827), "conscience" (? =, 791), "self-control" (? =, 803), "kindness" (? =, 772) were determined. The total variance explained by the scale is 57.436%, and the factor loadings of the items range between 443 and 836. The Cronbach'sAlpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale consisting of 20 items was measured as 845. In this respect, it is possible to state that the scale has a high level of reliability and to emphasize its usefulness.
