Abstract


DETERMINATION OF NUTRITION HABITS OF ÇUKUROVA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WHO PLAY AND DO NOT PLAY SPORTS
This study was carried out to examine the nutritional habits of Çukurova University students. The average age of the study was 22.10 ± 3.16 years, the average height was 1.72 ± 0.09 m, the average weight was 66.71 ± 13.97 kg, and 297 volunteers with BMI values of 22.15 ± 4.07 kg / m2 (female = 148, male = 149) university student participated. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was applied for normality distribution of the data and it was found that it did not show normal distribution. When the data was examined, it was observed that university students skipped the most morning meals and at least skipped the evening meals. It was found that more than 50% of students consumed legume-grain and pastry food groups, more than 70% consumed fruit and vegetable products, and more than 75% consumed meat products. A significant difference was found in nutrition habits, non-food products, food consumption frequency and performance sub-dimensions and total nutrition scores of male university students compared to female university students (P?0.05). As a result, it was observed that students generally skip breakfast meals due to early classes and prefer to eat during the evening hours. It has been observed that students consume high levels of meat and meat products as a conscious choice to meet a healthy life and daily protein needs. In addition, it has been observed that the nutrition levels of male university students are better than female university students. Moreover, it can be said that university students who do sports also pay attention to their nutritional status and feed regularly, according to university students who do not do sports.
